 Made for ceremonial use, wigs of human hair are grown over an 18 month period b y a small group of men in the Huli tribe. Here, he is pictures watering his hai r to promote growth. Along with elaborate costumes and striking facial paint ( mostly yellow), the wig is donned for the sing-sing, a ceremonial welcoming dance that mimicks the local birds of paradise. |
